I. Turkish Chess and Education Convention Ended

I.Turkish Chess Education has started in Ankara, Sheraton Hotel. The participants are academicians working in universities from every corner of Turkey. You can find more information about the first day of the gathering from the link below.

In the opening ceremony, opening speeches were made and the players of President's Cup were introduced.

In the first session of the gathering TCF President Ali Nihat Yazıcı made a presentation about "Turkish Chess Education Model" and he explained the development of the projects of Turkish Chess Federation. He also stated that the future aim of TCF is to integrate the education model that has been developed in schools to the higher education in order to help the development of researches about chess in various disciplines.

The Vice-Chairman of FIDE Trainers' Committee GM Adrian Mikhalchishin made a speech about the historical development of chess training and education, the key themes and problems about chess education in the world in a comparative perspective. The invited academicians are all experts in  Sports, sports technologies, and sports sciences departments. The relationship between chess and education, whether chess is a sports or not, and  the relationship between chess training and other sports' training are some of the key issues that has been discussed.

In the second session of the first day member of TCF Board from Hacettepe University Sports Sciences and Technology Academy Prof.Dr Gıyasettin Demirhan gave a speech titled "The Location of Chess in Education and Its Importance". The second speech made was titled "Academic Structuring in Chess and Research Fields" by Prof. Dr. Caner Açıkada. The final speech was delivered by connoisseur psychologist Seren Akıncı representative of Turkish Psychologists' Association about their observations in Turkish Age Groups Championships.

In the fourth session of the gathering, which was on Sunday morning, the education and training of instructors and trainers were discussed. In the fifth and final session, general discussion was made and in the closing speech TCF President Yazıcı stated TCF's projects related to chess training and highed education and stated that TCF would like to be a model for the world not only with the "chess in schools" projects but also in the higher education level.
