In the press conference afterwards, he thanked his friends, supportive wife Aruna Anand, his trainers and the hosting country for its hospitality. Ex-Champion Kramnik won his last game with the title against Armenian Levon Aronian to gain the second place from Boris Gelfand who has been performing unexpectedly but very consistently well throughout the event. Gelfand has to settle himself with the third place after making a draw against Morozevich which was an interesting struggle.
