Russia won 3-1 against Slovenia to share the first place with Azerbaijan who won narrowly against the current European Champions, Netherlands and those two teams are sharing the first place with 8 points.

On the first board Russia achieved a comfortable 3-1 victory against Slovenia with Morozevich and Jakovenko winning against Beliavsky and Lenic respectively. On the second board, Azerbaijan won narrowly with 2.5-1.5 against Netherlands, the reigning European champions thanks to the victory of Guseinov against Van Den Doel. On the third board, Hungary and Israel made a draw against each other since Almasi's win was compensated by Roiz's victory against Balogh. Ukraine won narrowly against the Macedonian team despite Moiseenko's loss against Nedev. Ivanchuk and Volokitin's wins against Vladimir Georgiev and Nikola Mitkov were more than enough for the victory for the Ukrainian side. Armenia were not able to crack down the solid Denmark side.

Turkish team gained an important victory against Romania with 3-1, Gurevich winning against Nevedichny and Erdoğdu winning against a former cadet star, Murariu while Atalık and Esen made draws against Lupulescu and Berescu. Turkey is going to face the Olympic Champions Armenia with Aronian, Akopian, Sargissian and Lputian against Gurevich, Atalık, Haznedaroğlu and Erdoğdu.

Poland Marches Through Russia and Hungary

 

Russia and Hungary made a 2-2 draws with all the games drawn. Poland gained a 3-1 victory against France which gave them an opportunity to occupy the sole lead. Hungary and Russia are following with 7 points. Georgia is now definitely ready to fight for the top after winning comfortably against Serbia with 3.5-0.5. The  Ukrainian team was not able to ground down the Dutch team and all the games ended as a draw in the individual encounters. Slovenia led by THY player Anna Muzychuk won 2.5-1.5 against another strong team in the event Romania.

Turkey lost against Azerbaijan while Yıldız and Öztürk made draws against Türkan Mamedyarova and Isgandarova while Atalık and Topel lost their games.
