In the seventh round of European Team Chess Championship, Russia is very close to the title with another victory against France. There is a three point gap between Russia and Armenia and even a draw against Spain would practically secure the title. In women's section, Russia won 2.5-1.5 against Georgia in the derby of the day while Poland got another win against Ukraine with 3-1. Russia: Non-Stop Trip to the Title

Russia won yet another cruical game against France with 2.5-1.5 thanks to Alexander Morozevich who scoreed 6/7 with a 2970 performance. Russia is very close to the title since has 14 points and the closest follower, Armenia has 11 points. In order to collect the last 2 points, Armenia had to overcome Slovenia with 2.5-1.5 with the help of Sargissian's win against Tratar.

On the third board, Azerbaijan gained a crucial victory against Ukraine with 2.5-1.5. The man of the match was "Shak" Mamedyarov with a marvellous win against world number 2 Vassily Ivanchuk. On the fourth board, Poland and Spain made a draw with Socko's victory against Shirov cancelled out by Illescas Cordoba's win.
Israel gained a comfortable victory against Norway with Carlsen, IM Hammer (a close friend and another talented youngster of Norway) and GM Lie lost to the solid Israeli team.

Turkey lost to Montenegro 3-1 with Gurevich and Atalık losing their own individual games. Turkey is going to play with Finland in Men's section.
Photo finish to Determine the Champion in Women?

In women's section, Russia gained an important victory against Georgia with the win of Ekaterina Korbut against Maia Lomeineshvili. However, Poland did not let Russia to take the sole lead with a 3-1 win against Ukraine with the help of Rajlich and Zworadska.

Netherlands won against Slovenia with 2.5-1.5 to climb to the third place and Armenia won against Bulgaria 3-1 with the help of Danielian's win against ex-world champion Antoaneta Stefanova and Aginian's win against Velcheva. On the fifth board, Hungary won against Greece-1 with 2.5-1.5 with the only victory coming from Szidonia Vajda.
