
Turkish Youth Chess Championship is Over
The greatest national event in Turkey in terms of magnitude, the gathering of more than one thousand two hundred children and nine hundred coaches, parents, 2008 Turkish Youth Chess Championship was held in Kemer, Antalya, Turkey. The venue is Limra Hotel which already hosted 78th FIDE Congress, 2007 First Quarter Presidential Board Meeting, 2007 World Youth Chess Championship and 2007 European Club Cup. 2008 Turkish Youth Chess Championship took place in Kemer from January 27 to February 2. Children from every corner of Turkey arrived in Kemer played in the championship totaling to 1200 players from 47 districts. The strongest players in the event are national hopefuls Mustafa Yılmaz(2288) and Oğulcan Kanmazalp(2284) both in Under 16.

A protocal was signed between the president of the Turkish Chess Federation Ali Nihat Yazıcı and the president of the Northern Cyprus Chess Federation Yener Ersoy to improve the relations between the two federations.



As it is always the case, all the players in Under 8 groups received medals by board members and regional representatives of Turkish Chess Federation.
